“The Spin Mount System” by Phil Pressel
Published in Quest Volume: 28 #2 (2021)

Abstract

Building systems for sophisticated equipment, such as anti-satellite weapons, involves a great deal of creativity. This article describes the work done by engineers at the Perkin-Elmer Corporation for a system that permitted testing such a weapon before it was used to locate targets in space. The Spin Mount System involved many engineering, design, manufacturing, and testing challenges, which are described here by one of the engineers who created this system.
