Abstract
Paul Calle was once of the first eight artists chosen by NASA in 1962 to document the space program and he was the only artist present with the Apollo 11 crew the morning of 16 July 1969 as they prepared for their historic launch.
Perhaps one of his most well-known space paintings is the 1969 First Man on the Moon stamp design for the US Post Office Department. Both Paul and his son, Chris, the author of this article, have designed a number of space stamps over the years. This article discusses their US postal stamp efforts.
