Abstract

Dolores B. “Dee” O’Hara was the first nurse to join NASA in 1960, launching a new specialty and laying the foundation to what would become the field of space nursing. O’Hara was the official nurse to the Mercury Seven astronauts and their families and supported astronauts during the Gemini Program, Apollo astronauts, and Skylab.
