“An Interview with John Young,” Interview by Robert Sherrod, Ivelisse Rodriguez, and Stewart Rosenbaum
Published in Quest Volume: 28 #2 (2021)
Abstract
John Young had one of the most remarkable careers of America’s early astronauts and traveled to space during the Gemini and Apollo programs, and on the Space Shuttle. This oral history following combines selected parts of two interviews–by Robert Sherrod on 28 June 1974 and by Ivelisse Rodriguez and Stewart Rosenbaum on 17 March 1983. The Sherrod interview took place shortly after Young’s assignment as Chief of the Astronaut Office, and the second interview between his two Shuttle flights.
